Living in the age of COVID-19 has had a profound effect on many of us in the way we live our lives. Some people are living at home, staying away from the world, and trying to maintain their existence in the quietest ways they know.
Others have chosen to get outta town, so to speak. There are families who have chosen to live using off-grid power in various parts of the country, from the woody northeast to the desert southwest.
And others have chosen to go it alone, and move to an off-the-grid existence, like former TV host/comedian Tom Greene. He bought a delivery truck van, installed solar panels on it, and created his own electrical moving existence, using solar electricity and a solar battery to power up his computers, camera, refrigerator, and more to share his stories with his network.
Showing how to live an off the electrical grid lifestyle can be liberating to others. Are you considering a move off the grid too? If so, you can create your own solar electricity lifestyle with NewGrid Power.
Living with Off-Grid Power
Many of our customers get started in off-grid living by first conducting research on the off-grid lifestyle, and what’s needed for the transition. They might be city dwellers who are fed up with the increasing COVID-19 restrictions in their city or suburbs.
After making a decision, they then purchase land for their new off-grid location. They might choose to live just on the outskirts of a town (to be able to have some local resources available), or they choose to live in an extremely remote location.
The customer might build a structure or move an existing structure to a remote location. During the construction phase (or right after the moving phase), our NewGrid Power team arrives to install the right kind of off-grid power for their lifestyle.
These customers generally have no power, their property is not near the service drop, not near a transformer, or simply just too far away from water and power. As they generally don’t know how to get hooked up to the power grid, that’s where our NewGrid Power team can help.
We can walk into a property, see what they need, and see what will work. It might take a week or longer to properly install the panels, hook up the generators to the solar battery, and work out the full electrical grid for all the structures.
